Laifu's Life on Wheels

A Life of Adventure

Laifu, a French Bulldog, became paralyzed five years ago due to a congenital spinal condition. From that moment on, his life took a different path. But his owner, Lili, never gave up on him. She always said, “If he’s going to use a wheelchair, let’s get him a beautiful one.”

It was a crisp autumn afternoon when Lili first heard the heartbreaking news from the vet: “You should consider getting him a wheelchair. He won’t be able to walk anymore…” Holding Laifu in her arms, Lili was overwhelmed with sadness. She cried the whole night. But by the next morning, a thought came to her: If a wheelchair could help Laifu “walk” again, why not make it a colorful and cheerful one? She scoured the internet and finally found a perfect wheelchair—comfortable, sturdy, and vibrant.

Devoted Care

Since Laifu’s paralysis, Lili’s daily routine completely revolved around his needs. Twice a day, she had to manually express Laifu’s bladder because he couldn’t urinate on his own. If neglected, his bladder would quickly become inflamed, leading to serious infections. Once, Lili returned home late and forgot this critical task. The result was a painful bout of bladder inflammation for Laifu, leaving him whimpering in the corner. That experience was a turning point for Lili. From then on, no matter how tired or busy she was, she never missed Laifu’s care.

Every evening, Lili would take Laifu out for a walk in his wheelchair. Strangers often stared, and some even suggested she put him down, saying, “A dog like this doesn’t have much quality of life. Maybe it’s time to let go.” But Lili knew better. Laifu wasn’t suffering. He ate well, slept soundly, and wagged his tail excitedly whenever she returned home. His happiness was evident, and there was no reason to give up on him.

Laifu’s Infectious Optimism

The wheelchair didn’t just give Laifu mobility; it became a symbol of his joyful spirit. Lili often said that Laifu taught her how to face adversity with courage. Inspired by his optimism, she learned to approach life’s challenges with a lighter heart.

Over time, Laifu became a local celebrity in their neighborhood. People who once pitied him began to admire him. Some even approached Lili for advice on how to care for their own disabled pets. Laifu, with his cheerful demeanor, changed the way many people perceived disabled animals.

The Importance of a Wheelchair

Laifu’s story highlights that a wheelchair is much more than a mobility aid; it’s a bridge that strengthens the bond between pets and their owners. It gives disabled pets a second chance at life, granting them dignity and freedom. For Lili, that small wheelchair carried not just Laifu’s body but also his unwavering love for life.

As Lili often says, “A wheelchair isn’t something to fear. What’s truly frightening is losing the passion for life. And Laifu’s passion inspires me every single day.”
